Self Portraits

Working with my Film Camera with both black and white film, i have been experimenting different ways in which you can present a portrait. I'm not sure how they have really worked, i do like them though. They kinda have a ghostly haunt to them instead of being pretty and perfect......I do have a Lady Gaga-isge photo i am awaiting on development which might be uploaded it depends.

Being used as part of my final AS Level art exam project where i am rejecting the stereotype that Art is just painting or drawing. Every drawing or painting comes from a photo whether its mentally or physically. The final piece will have dripping paint writing 'I'd Rather Be A Painting' or 'I Wish I Was A Drawing'. If anyone has any preference please let me know it will be highly appreciated.

Inspired by a self portrait by Annie Luebewitz ( my favourite photographer) which i discovered while doing a project about her as part of my Art research. The chance to work with her would be amazing but I'm aiming very high indeed.

First try at Self Portrait....I'm limited to my little film camera and no tripod so struggle with a steady hand on most of these attempts. The flash kinda blanks out any imperfections so no photoshoping was needed though i do wish I'd pluck my eyebrows before hand.

Asian Love

 The Asian Emporium

The majority of my girlfriends are asian...i dont know why and as probally guessed gthey like to be called the asians. Luckily they are very pretty and are perfect for photos where hardly any work/photoshopping needs to be done. With my AS levels they are becoming a main topic and are being loved on flickr
Ishini Perera
Didnt really need to tell her to pose at all for this they just have the look......well apart from the flowers

Mazza with her holister posing

Ishini Perera once more

There are more photos of the asians as some photos are too big for the blog on my flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/niamhsivertsen/

THE DARK ROOM

First time in the make shift dark room my art teacher made devolping my black and white film. This was just a taster sess to learn more about the darkroom and the manual focus camera itself. They didnt come out as great as i inticipated but ive found some worth saving. If I had these full sized, the whole presentation would be totally different so just click on them to enlarge or check out my flickr for more photos from the dark room and other things http://www.flickr.com/photos/niamhsivertsen/

A little jewellery stall in the market sqaure of Cambridge town. Im still working on this photo in the dark room so that all of the aspects are visable in a bright light and not so dark as this orginal.

Experimenting with different exposure times under a magnetta filter so i can know which one works best....i think between 5 to 20 secs maybe
In ARK, my favorite vintage shop in Cambridge Town. Spent a long time wondering what the hell this was as a negative before finally devolping it and remembering where and what it was.

LONDON.... a theatre poster (i think Chicago) reading 'Who says that murder is not an Art?' Pretty apporiate for my art AS level as it is all about different aspects of art that people dont consider like photography.

Part of my Fairytale shoot (i'd click to enlarge it to see it better or on my flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/niamhsivertsen/ ) Looking at how the wicked witch was squashed so brutally in the Wizard of Oz and we never heard her side of the story

Childhood

The Dark side of Childhood

Part of my AS level art work i focused strongly on the experience of Childhood and how it has an effect on us in later life. Fairytales makes every child want to become a princess or prince but it also gives them the nightmares about evil witches and stepmothers being given a bad name.
